Chairman’s Welcome

A message from our Chairman

Geoff_Greenlaw_july09                                                                                                       welcome

On behalf of the Organising Committee, it gives me enormous pleasure to welcome you all to the 2015 Eaglesham Fair. It goes without saying, but this year is our biggest and best yet!

Myself and my fellow Committee members of Iain MacDonald, Craig Parker, Andy and Lynn Kirkland, Julie McKinna, Alistair McBride and Karen Kilpatrick have been working tirelessly to ensure our great tradition sails by without a hitch.

This year, we have chosen the theme “All Things Scottish”, and our day begins in style with the traditional  Parade.  Starting at Eaglesham Primary School and weaving its way down to the park, the Parade will be accompanied by both The Troon Pipe Band and The Absurdist Pipe Band. As usual, we anticipate a great turnout from each of our local clubs or societies in and around the village. The participants have a fantastic time waving to residents or loved ones as they pass by, and of course, they will be dressed up to tie-in with this year’s theme. Heading the procession will be the Fair Queen and Fair Princess with their two Attendants accompanying them.

This year, we’ve went out of our way to ensure that the kid’s entertainment is the very best that we have to offer. The Committee have tried to organise a wide variety of rides and attractions so that each and every age group is catered for, with nobody missing out. One of the highlights will be the view from our Big Wheel … our very own Eaglesham Eye for the day!

For those who prefer somewhat less-energetic pursuits, the marquee returns, packed full with all sorts of stalls selling a huge array of arts and crafts

Food wise, again we’ve gone above and beyond to make sure that there are no large queues or disappointed customers looking for a tasty snack. A hog roast, burgers, and ice creams and many, many more will hopefully satisfy most needs and, we can’t confirm or deny this, but there’s a rumour that not only is there a beer tent again but a Beer & Food Festival too!

The event would not be possible without the time and talents of so many people in and around Eaglesham, so a huge thank you to all concerned. Our gratitude also goes out to all our programme advertisers, generous sponsors and donations from our “Friends of the Fair”. All this would not be possible without you and your continued backing.

We also have an exciting announcement to make regarding our new status as a Charity, which is something you can read about later in the programme.

So – come to Eaglesham Fair. We look forward to seeing you there for a fantastic day out!

Geoff Greenlaw

Chairman, Eaglesham Fair Organising Committee.
